The time has come for Computer Function to expand our training services beyond offering one-on-one training, to now include small group training sessions also. Not to worry my loyal customers, Computer Function will still be providing personalised one-on-one training.

Why the change?  Over the past 10 years, I Adam Fredericks, have seen the IT (Information Technology) world rapidly change around me. These days, the most common computer or gadget can cause people a mountain of I.T. problems, these problems often remain unresolved or worse yet, are setup incorrectly.  This leads to technology stress, I am sure everyone has experienced this feeling before?  So instead of our expensive smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktops making our lives easier, they are close to sending us over the edge!

The way I see it, we have two choices.  Join a hippy tribe and move to the bush, or we can learn just enough about what we need to know from our computer world, and let the technology make our lives more fun and free as this is what it was designed for in the first place.  Remember, no one can possibly know everything about IT/computers.  If you know someone who believes they do, then you should politely tap them on the shoulder and suggest they move to Hollywood, as they will make a stack of money as an actor and probably even win an Oscar.

My real point is that technology is like a giant jigsaw puzzle.  Some people know how to program code, some know how to network and some know how to design the hardware and some are just awesome at creating software.  And of course, some very talented people know more than one piece of this 1,000+ piece puzzle.  So where does that leave you and me?  When I was a kid, I would stay up all night overclocking custom computer systems and tearing Windows apart until I thought I may have some kind of physiological problem.  But then my wife, kids and business came along and I quickly realised that 24 hours is just not enough time in a day.  This led me on to an amazing revelation.  We don’t need to know everything about our smart phones, tablets, laptops and desktops. We only need to know about the features that we purchased it for in the first place, right?

It is for this reason that Computer Function will be offering a system of learning that will not resemble any kind of classic classroom environment.  No boring/lonely online courses, that may or may not be completed one day.  We will be holding small group training sessions, where you will be learning from myself, and also from each other, in our fully operational computer service department.  The only thing that will resemble traditional learning is the list of subjects.  In saying this, the subject list is only the starting block, it is not a rigid course outline. I want the lesson to resemble more like a group gathering or a sports training session (without the physical part of course).  My goal is to help you enjoy your technology, and have you walk away pumped that a small technical problem has been resolved (by you) and has now disappeared from your life. Good Riddance!
